First post. A healthy rambling to start.
This post will probably not appear for long. This is a test. I aim to post my designs in a web based repository with the ability to put my thoughts out there on all the aspects of the designs I am sharing. Hopefully people who also like this stuff will find it so we can talk about it. Sharing these designs and getting conversation going around them is important to me.
Been drawing this kind of stuff most of my life, off and on. Been corralled into different industries over the years, because "that's what you're supposed to do" or that's what I thought I should do. Instead, I keep coming back to drawing theme park ride and themed environment stuff, so I'm launching these into the deep.

It's surprising to me what companies do or don't do, or what guests latch onto or don't. What was an interesting property or concept ten years ago is old and tired now. It's inevitable. However, you don't have to dispatch all of your infrastructure and build from scratch to breathe new life into things. I'll talk more about that as we go.
What I'll mention here and may mention again in a more structured capacity is a problem in any industry where creatives work. Many companies treat creators as extensions of their own hands, using designers and illustrators as pencils they merely push and nudge to design the ideas of those in power. This has to stop.
Before digital, it was easier to rebuff dumb suggestions from people that don't know what they are talking about. A drastic last minute change could take weeks with production art or hard assets. Now? The reality is that it takes a day or less for the most part. Art directors, producers, and boardmembers tinker and waste the ingenuity of the designer and try to get their own ideas implemented. Most of which, aren't very good, let's be honest. Just because leaders can do something, doesn't mean they should. The product and voice of the creator suffers. Still, flexibility is key. Input from leaders is important but not absolute. Shocked? Don't be.

The balance must be brought back to order, across every creative industry. Restraint must be exercised by those in power. Leaning on the spark in their team members instead of dominating with micromanaging is how the greatest projects get born. It's mindboggling when you step back and look at the dysfunction. The whole reason they brought creatives on board was to be creative and operate outside of conventional thinking.
Anyway, I'll be posting many designs and concepts I've been working on in the coming weeks. I hope to hear from others that like this sort of thing or think about these things, or maybe, even if it were possible, have a passion for these things in areas that I lack. Then, who knows what could happen?
